Bucharest, Romania --
Filasa International, a French closely held company, plans to invest
about 1.4 billion euros ($1.8 billion) in 10 wind parks in Romania in
coming years, the company said in an e-mailed statement today.
Filasa, through its Romanian unit Eolenvest, is
currently developing nine wind parks with a total installed capacity of
897 megawatts in the southeastern counties of Buzau and Braila,
according to the statement.
The French company is also investing 1 billion euros
in another wind park in the northern county of Suceava with a capacity
of about 516 megawatts. Ziarul Financiar reported today that Filasa is
seeking to develop 300 megawatts of power from solar plants in Romania.
